Secondary School Work

Joe is an active member of the All Saint’s Secondary School Chaplaincy Team. Here’s a brief summary of activities and initiatives:

• Assemblies: Regular assemblies covering various subjects, including Easter and Christmas specials. These sessions are interactive, informative, and enjoyed by the students.
• Religious Education (RE) Lessons: Teaching Bible literacy to students as part of their RE curriculum.
  Master the Task Lunchtime Drop-in Club: A weekly club offering fun activities and challenges for students, led by Joe and Jake (Dorset YFC).
• Alpha Course After-School Club: Offering an after-school course for students interested in exploring spirituality.
  Mentoring and Student Engagement: Providing support and assistance to students in their spiritual and emotional well-being, as well as engaging them in various school activities.

Pilgrimage

Joe writes: “ We also engaged students on a Pilgrimage walk arranged by Bishop Anthony Macr-Wood and the school staff. The walk from Durdle Door to Whitchurch in July 2023 was a truly enriching experience. Sleeping in churches, halls, and Church gardens along the way provided a unique opportunity for young people to connect with their spirituality and surroundings in a meaningful way. The beautiful weather certainly enhanced the experience, allowing for even deeper immersion in nature and reflection on God’s wonders. It’s wonderful to know that the young people thoroughly enjoyed the journey and that it facilitated plenty of prayer and reflection. Such experiences can leave a lasting impact on one’s spiritual growth and appreciation for the world around them. There will be another All Saints Pilgrimage walk this July too.”

Primary School Work

St John’s School

We have a long -standing and excellent relationship with St John’s Primary school. Tom (Vicar of St John’s) is a Governor, part of the Ethos team, regularly leads Collective Worship and contributes to RE and staff training. Susie (St John’s Children’s and families worker) also regularly leads Collective Worship as well as running engaging projects during the year such as the interactive Easter experience and the annual Prayer Tent.

We welcome the school into church and this happens on a regular basis throughout the year for key services and celebrations.

Susie also runs the TLG early intervention programme in school whereby a team of trained coaches from the church work with children on a one to basis each week and throughout the year.

Joe also engages with St John’s Primary School where he regularly helps with school trips and residentials, speaks at seasonal school church services and works as a one to one coach with a young person on a weekly basis.
