At St John’s we love to welcome children, young people and their families. Our aim is to be a church where everyone feels welcomed and we offer a wide range of activities through the week.
What’s on around the Parish
Sundays
SJ Kids
SJ Kids is our Sunday morning group for Primary School aged children and meets every week during our 10.30am informal service. We leave the main service and head over to Hope House where we do church in a fun, age- appropriate way, including songs, games, videos, craft. Our heart is to see every child have their own personal relationship with Jesus and we recognise the privilege we have in playing a small part in helping this develop.
We currently offer a creche space at the back of church, with lots of toys and books for those with pre-school aged children, where children can play, whilst adults still engage with the service.
We have various social events throughout the year which aim to encourage community and offer opportunities for SJKids families to socialise together and support each other.
IGNITE
Ignite is our Sunday morning group for secondary school-aged young people.
We meet in The Loft at Hope House. It’s a space where we can all be exactly who we are. A place where everyone is valued, listened to, and can have our voices heard.
We eat together and we also discuss many different topics where we try to discover what the bible has to say about the things we are discussing. We enjoy spending time with each other and discovering what God and His Word has to say to us.

Through the week
Little Fishes: Parent and Toddler Group. Mondays, 10-11.30am at St John’s Church
Little Fishes is a safe, fun and friendly place for Parents to bring babies and toddlers. There are toys, games, activities and healthy snacks for the kids – and coffee, tea and cake for the parents. Perfect for a Monday morning. The Little Fishes team are also on hand to offer a listening ear and support. We also run summer holiday ‘Family Fishes’ sessions which run as our regular toddler group, but with activities for children of all ages.
Connect. Thursdays. 3.45- 5pm at St John’s Church
We have 2 exciting after school clubs that meet on a Thursday for children in primary school. The first called ‘CONNECT’ is for children in school years 1-4 and meets in church. It’s a great opportunity for children to make friends, play games, have free play time, hear stories, eat food, make craft and have fun.
There is also Connect 5.15 – a group for school years 5 and 6. We meet in Hope House and is a less structured session, with games, pool table, table football, tuck shop and lots more!
Kid’s Holiday Club
At Easter we run our annual kids holiday club, which has been a great success over the last few years and drawn in large numbers of children from the area.
